چکیده

The explosion of information and integration of technology into everyday life has brought on new demands for how people manage and maintain computer systems. Demand is already outpacing supply when it comes to managing complex computer systems. There are burst of activities to ease the burden of configuration management such as autonomic computing. In this paper, we address fundamental theory of autonomic systems. We define and discuss various kinds of limits (convergence, idempotence, statelessness, etc) on configuration operations. We define general and special cases of composability of configuration operations and show that the act of selecting or composing the appropriate operations or operation sequences from an operation repository is NP-complete and the problem remains NP-complete regardless of whether operations have those limits. We examine how current strategies for configuration management reduce complexity. We also suggest a number of ways to reduce the difficulty of composability. Many of these ways are ways in which other NP-complete problems have been shown to be easy in certain cases, i.e., choosing easy instances, forming hierarchies and relationships, approximation, dynamic

Natural elements spatial configuration and content usage in urban park

Abstract Urban parks are important public multifunctional space used for a wide range of activities. The usage levels of parks depend on the spatial characteristics of the spaces, where its forms and occupancies are referred as the usage-spatial relationship. Natural elements spatial complexity and park usability is of interest in this study. A photo - questionnaire was conducted among 296 of p...

Configuration and management of a real-time smart transducer network

Smart transducer technology supports the composability, configurability, and maintainability of sensor/actuator networks. The configuration and management of such networks, when carried out manually, is an expensive and error-prone task. Therefore, many existing fieldbus systems provide means of “plug-and-play” that assist the user in these tasks. In this paper we describe configuration and man...

OPTIMUM DESIGN OF FILAMENT–WOUND LAMINATED CONICAL SHELLS FOR BUCKLING USING THE PENALTY FUNCTION

Optimum laminate configuration for minimum weight of filament–wound laminated conical shells subject to buckling load constraint is investigated. In the case of a laminated conical shell the thickness and the ply orientation (the design variables) are functions of the shell coordinates, influencing both the buckling load and its weight. These effects complicate the optimization problem consider...

Towards Aspectual Component-Based Development of Real-Time Systems

Increasing complexity of real-time systems, and demands for enabling their configurability and tailorability are strong motivations for applying new software engineering principles, such as aspect-oriented and component-based development. In this paper we introduce a novel concept of aspectual componentbased real-time system development. The concept is based on a design method that assumes deco...
